Online Survivor 8: All-Stars was the end of an era. After this season, some of the well known contestants from the first seven seasons would drop off the face of the earth. Thank goodness we had one last great season to remember them by. I initially said this season wasn't that good, but this seems to be one of those instances where age makes it better and better.
At the time, this season was super-hyped. An All-Stars game of Online Survivor? Could it be pulled off? What would it be like? The expectation was through the roof, and that, along with the fact we were coming off the ultra-amazing Online Survivor 7, made this season a major letdown at the time. However, after standing the test of time, we can look back objectively. The game had an awesome 76% attendance, numerous twists, and every great character from the first seven seasons. What wasn't to love?
This season pulled out all the stops. I did my best to blend all seven seasons together, and add a dash of something new, and that's exactly what I accomplished. Every season was represented with their major challenges and twists. To ensure this was a game made for All-Stars, I made sure that a twist happened every 3 days. That made for one crazy game.
Now, let's talk about the cast. I invite every player in the history of Online Survivor to play and guess how many I get!? ....18. Well, that made casting easy considering there were only 18 spots. However, it's remarkable which 18 people we did get. Every single one of them had a major impact on the game in their seasons. Even Saline, who is often made fun of for being an All-Star since he got 15th in his season, was a major player in his season. Prince was so scared of him despite the fact he was on the other tribe, that he forced Frog to vote him out. Not to mention, he had the honor of the famous "So you use us, then diss us" quote in reference to Silly's blunder. Every single player had at least one key moment in OLS history.
As for as the episodes themselves, Online Survivor 8: All-Stars used the basic format of the previous seasons for the very last time. Obviously, it used stars *** for the character theme. The music theme for this season is pulled from every previous season. Whichever season contributed more challenges/twists to each episode gets their music for that episode, and when someone is eliminated, the music from the season they represented is used. Since I already told you what all of this music is, if you want to know, go look at all the other posts for seasons 1-7.
So, there's not much more to say. Online Survivor 8: All-Stars is simply everything you loved about the first seven seasons crammed into one game, with every person you loved from the first seven seasons crammed into one game. What more could you ask for? A new twist that not even the real SURVIVOR has tried yet? OK, done . Enjoy!
